Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (NIV) I am a Christian a Husband, a Father, and of course a Marathon runner. What more could anyone ask?

Merry Christmas

Notice I said Merry Christmas,

Not happy holidays, or any other generic Christmas Greeting. If I were Jewish I would say Happy Hanukkah, If I celebrated Kwanzaa I would give whatever that greeting is. I am Christian so Merry Christmas. If you don't like it don't listen

With that

I wish all of you The Merriest of Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New year

Has anyone noticed

Is it inly me or does there not seem to be alot of Christmas Cheer this year. I don;t know what it is but it does not seem very Christmasy. I have pointed out to my wife and others that even the stores did not seem to go all out like the used to. Any one have any theories, I do and of course I will tell you after all why would I be writing this. First, Could it be the anti religous people who donlt want anyone celebrating anything and our offended by any remotely having to do with Christmas and the birth of our lord. Yes. Could it be that the stores are afraid of these people for some reason and that is why at alot of them they are not aloud to return a Merry Christmas. Yes. Could it be the economy and alot of people are losing alot of money and really can't afford a Christmas. Yes. Al of these are more than likely answers. I am sorry for all of these people especially those effected by the economy. I really do hope you can have some kind of a Merry Christmas and hoepfully a better next year. As for the people who don't want religon in stores or Christmas I say what the hell do you care anyway you don't beleive and therefore should not be celebratging the Holiday so shut the fuck up just because you live a miserable existance donlt bring your hatred near the holidays.

On to something else gas prices have dropped but airline Tickets have not and they are still charging for extra bags. Why is that, I thought it was to offset the price of fuel now what is there excuse. can anyone answer that.

Well, it's December

Another year has almost gone by and I am pleased. But we must realize there is a month left and many things can happen in a month. So lets not start celebrating yet.

Thanksgiving at the house was uneventful all of the traditional holidays fares were introduced and yours truly thoroughly stuffed himself. The friends who showed were truly that and the conversation flowed easily. My in laws were uncharacteristically quiet friendly. In otherwords no snide little comments about anything. So the day overall was great. I had to work on Friday so the Christmas lights did not go up until Saturday which kind of upset me because I like to be the first on the block to get them up and I was beaten by 2 of my neighbors however 1 one them had them up on Wednesday so I kind of consider that cheating so I did not count them. As for running my knee feels great and I will be back on the road tomorrow. 2 more bigs coming up and I still have to decide on San Diego. So be safe all I will update as things happen that is if anything happens.

Happy Thanksgiving? maybe

I know I will not be able to post tomorrow so I want to wish you all the Happiest Thanksgiving ever and I truly hope all of you have plenty to be thankful for. My day as I have just been informed will be spent with my inlaws. Which will require tolerance and those of you who kow me know that I am not a carrier of tolerance. So it raise these level it will require beer or something more alcoholic. I do love My wifes parents but they are best taken in small doses. Thanksgiving is not a small dose. I will do my best to be nice for the sake of my families holiday. I ahve also been told that my Sister in Law may be attending now this creates a problem. She is by far the most selfish person I have ever met and My in laws seem to forget my wife exist whenever she is around. If she brings her bratty kids I can assure you 2 things will happen 1. something will be broken 2. my wifes parents will also forget that my children exist. But don't worry yourself I will introduce them to the door should this happen. So my Thanksgiving is already over as far as I am concerned. I will spend most of the day with my remote and a several MGDs.

Direct TV

I switched from cable to Direct TV. First this requires patience second this requires tolerance of stupidity I have neither of those qualities so it was a long day. let me start at the beginning. I called up Direct TV to see about saving some money. It is cheaper than cable. I talked to a woman who I advised her I wanted to switch but I needed to have the network channels, she advised me they could not do it without sending a waiver. OK no thank you I said and everyone was happy. 2 days later I get a call from of course Direct TV asking me if I was still interested, I said I was but I want all the network channels with no waiver if they could not do that don't bother. So she said they could no problems I am sure she was getting sick of me because I kept asking "are you sure I get all the network channels" she said for the umpteenth time yes. SO ok come and install it. A few days later the tech shows up with out all the equipment I advised him I am supposed to have all this stuff HD, DVR etc. he says it not on his work order and makes a few phone calls they agree to go ahead and put it in ( I should have seen the problems coming right then) So about 4 hours later he has installed a huge CD dish and put in all the receivers. gets everything in line turns it on and nothing just a message saying programming needed. He asks me if I had asked for any programming, I informed him of what was requested ( I should say I picked there best and most expensive package) well they have no record of this, I am also told that they cannot give me the network channels as promised and there is nothing there that says it so I can have CBS and NBC and that is it. I think about it a bit argue with the lady and they finally submit to 2 years of NFL season pass so I say OK and agree they submit the waivers and we move on. As we are checking out the channels I tell her several times NBC HD is not working she says it may an hour or so. So yup you guessed it I waited a few days and called I was informed they have to submit a waiver for that channel. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor was put on hold and then told no supervisors would pick up and to leave my number that they would call me back. No call back in 2 days. So needless to say I am pissed. I am stuck with this contract for 2 years and get nothing but lies. I will update you as this goes on.

If I can't get back on here I want to wish everyone the Happiest of Thanksgivings

Another half another PR

Yesterday was the Run for hunger Half Marathon, it wa sput on by a local church and I have to say was actually very well done. Only about 150 peole showed up but that was ok. It was about 60 degrees when we started and around 70 when we finished. We started the race off raod which I did not like it was a very unimproved road. At about mile 4 a lady ran up to me and just started running with me which was ok we just ran together no need to talk or converse in any way just an unspoken thing to keep up and stay together I even shared a Gu with her well not sheared I gave her a Gu A roctane to be exact. We stayed together for about 4 miles until we hit the hills where she said goodbye as she could not keep up it was a pretty good grade but I love hills so I took off. At the end I new I ahd a PR coming and I was happy but all of a sudden I saw a small cone (this was how they were marking miles) I new I had not seen one for mile 12 this meant I was actually way off and woud not get my new record but alas it was an arrow to turn I had it 1 hour 55 minutes and some change. (I am unclear of the exact time it has not been posted) I am using the stopwatch on my IPOD. So needless to say I was happy Under 2 on a half was onr time thought to be impossible now I have done it. I geuss all that marathon training really does help. next we shoot for a 1 45 half and the under 4 on the full. As i said I was quite suprised that this run was ran as well as it was being put on by a small church in my small town. Now as for this church I do not attend the reason are quite simple I do beleive pastors of a church should get paid but they do not need to drive His and her mercedes and live in a gated community, also the billboards for the church really should not have to huge pics of the Husband and wife pastor team. But hey I was there run and get a PR which I did. I do have to admit it was nice to just go home after a race instead of a Hotel.
ok that is it for now

Much calmer now

It took a while but I have calmed down. I would like to say that we have just elected a very liberal Democratic president and a very liberal house and senate. Well the excuses are gone I for one will be sitting here a year from now laughing as we will still be in recession we will still be in a huge financial crisis and they will still be trying to blame the Republicans. But mark my words folks it will be scary We will be very unsafe as a country and individually Enough said, So I have another race this weekend only a half marathon but 13 miles is nothing to scoff at. I will let you know how it goes. Nothing new really going on here well I guess that switching from from cable to direct tv is news and it has a story but that is a blog for tomorrow. So be safe

If I may just say

Americans are the stupidist people. By your voting in That person just shows all you have to do is get a bright and shiny object wave it in your stupid faces and you are sold. No matter what the repercussions of that you bunch of fuckin idiots. Now watch as the country goes into deeper shit, as our safety is gone you will all then sit around saying don't blame me I didn't vote for him.
Again morons

Pissed

So I get up at 5 am get showered dressed all the morning necessities taking care fo so i acan be at the voting booth by 6 am when they open. I am greeted with a line of at least 200 hundred people with 12 booths. So I figure I have time I wait. Now why am I pissed well from the conversations around me roghly 90% of the people there did not have to be there, I heard alot of Moms who were discussing there day of taking the kids to the sitters so they could go shopping and wanted to get there voting "out of the way" alot of SnowBirds (retired folks from colder areas who migrate here every summer) very few of un were there who had to get to work. So of course there were alot of people myself included who just had to leave, I had to get to work SO allthese selfish pigs could vote. Well thanks assholes. Oh if only steemrolling morons was legal. maybe they should have some kind of thing so people who need to get to work could have a seperate line or some sort of front of the line pass. Oh I am sure some Obama lover would wine about that. Oh and on that if Obama wins (which he prob will) I give this country 3 years before we are no better than france a bunch of fuckin pussies who would rather lie down and fuck then face any problems. Now don't get me wrong I am all for Lying down and fucking but sometimes works had to get done. If he wins mark my words we will have surrendered in Iraq, Afginistan, and will be attacked again but this time with no repercussion to the attackers only love our enemies speaches. So go ahead idiots make the worst mistake this country has made ever.
You bunch of assholes.

Step off soapbox

Blogging

I am unsure about my post as of late. I feel like I am forcing this blog and that makes for 1. bad post 2. boring post. So while I am not going to stop, I am only going to write when I have something to write about. So expect a post every couple of days hopefuly something "unboring" .
So since I am already here I thought I would discuss the Ragnar Relay This as a few of you know is a 187 mile relay with a team of 12 people. I am quite excited about this. We have a team of all Firefighters so it my get weird. I am obvisously a lover of punishment because I have taken on the role of team captain. This means 1 no sleep I have to be with all groups 2 running one of the longer legs. I am not complaining I am actually very excited. I also found out some even better news I have been given the honor of pacing at Western States 100. Now this is one of my dream runs and I plan on racing it myself hopefully in a few years. But to pace wow. Actually I am pacing 2 people my Badwater Friend and her main man. Now her "main man" this guy is a veteran of over 40 100+ races and a finisher of western states 15 times. So hopefully I can keep up. Not much else going on. The kids look in a good loot for halloween and I ahve already gone through it and taken out my faves luckily my faves don't really interfere with theirs.

Already back in the game

Happy Halloween Everyone

I have been told by quite a few that after a Marathon to take a week or more off. Me and my usual do what I want self did not. I ran a nice fast 4.5 yesterday and I have to say it was great. I also have to admit that I am a bit sore today and the shins are acting up a bit. But we will see what tomorrows run brings. I actually came very close to signing up for the Disneyworld marathon but cooler heads prevailed. Actually my wife reminded me that I have the ragnar relay in feb and PF Changs the week after. it is not a running thing for those but more of a time off and travel thing. So maybe Disneyworld next year.

I also have some good news and some bad news, the bad news first Yesterday was my older sone last High School football game and tomorrow is my younger sons last Pop Warner game so no more football until next year. And for the Good news Yeaserday was my older sons alst high school football game and tomorrow is my younger sons last Pop Warner game. I do love them playing but to the parents who don't know Football is truly all consuming for Pop warner alone for the first month they practice every day starting at 6 so they get home from schoolget a snack and before you know it is time for football. In the High school ranks they practice after school and get done around 6:15 so we have to to drop off one and rush al the way back to pick up the other only to rush back to pick up again. Now game nights are a whole different animal. Like I said all consuming not only for the kids but also for the parents. I will tell you the first time you see your kid sack the quarterback it is all worth it actually it is even better if you see him sack the quarteback 6 times in 1 game breaking a school record it is even better. or if you see you son playing pop warner and see him recover a fumble and score a touchdown it is truly worth the effort. So like I said it is over now we concentrate even more on school work bring those b's up to a's and get ready to apply for and visit colleges over the summer I have my work cut out for me. But it is not over track is starting very soon and I have this very fast daughter so here we go again.

A quick down and dirty race report

As some of you know I ran for a charity,The International Association of Firefighters burn foundation a worthy cause but I am not sure I would do it again. I am not knocking it I just really did not like asking for money. I do think they are great hell my Dad is a TNT (Team in Training) alumnist and coach he is a coaching for PF Changs marathon this year so I am for charities. Now on to the race report. First it was cold 40 some odd degrees at the start (being from AZ cold for me). Alot of the usual festivities that you see at these things. However this being my first "full" marathon I took it all in. The race started and passing under those arches was definetly an experience I will never forget. One issue I did have was with Brooks. They were advertising a "VIP" porto john with running water flushing toilets and exhaust fans if you were wearing Brooks shoes or Brooks MCM running appearal. I did need some new shorts so I figured this was a good time. Well race day came and we never found the so called VIP porto john. I did here later there was only one way in the back of the starting area with even longer lines and clogged toilets so I am glad I needed the shorts otherwise I would have been pissed. SO as I was saying the race began. If I had to compare this to any run it would have been terrible, I was having a heck of a time getting into the run nothing was working not music nothing. My knee hurt and I ran the worst half I have ever ran at nearly 2 hrs 30 min and as you can tell by my finish time it never got any better. But I was there to finish. I believe it was all due to lack of sleep, climate and time difference and nervousness. I am not complaining and truly do feel I will come back next year with a vengance. The course was beautiful from tree lined forest areas to downtown and monuments. Always something to look at. I did not care for the half way point as we ran through a golf course. No real issues just boring. Also this race has quite a few hills it seems like you are always going up. Man this seems like I am complaining but I am really not I am just letting you know how it was. The race support was awesome, I am telling you the Marine Corps must raid The Basic School with all the 2nd Lt's out there but they were awesome. Supportive and caring. Lik I said we will be back next year and I can't wait. But for now I have another half on the 15th I have not made a decision about PF Changs yet the half or the full. But that happens in Jan. Then the Ragnar realay in Feb. Of course there is San Diego In June so some Busy times ahead. More soon so until then

Titles

We all have them, They can be our occupation, our hobby, anyone of a hundred things. I have 3 that I am most proud. First father. Raising my children is easily the most important thing I will ever do during my short time here so I will do it to the best of my ability more blood sweat and tears will go into that than anything I do. The second only a few will understand or a few and proud. It is my title of U.S. Marine, some would now say former Marine but nonetheless once a Marine always a Marine. My Last definetly deserves a place in the top three, it is also the newest I am a Marathoner. I completed my first Marathon specifically the Marine Corps Marathon on Sun Oct 26th in time of 5 hrs 4 min. Being my first I am not concerned about the time only that I finished. Expect a small race report very soon so until then I need some motrin.

Some days you have nothing to say

Today is one of those days nothing worth mentioning happened. We spent the day cleaning the Fire Station and Trucks. In between runs but they are just what I do and not to talk about. Let me tell you this, tapering is killing me I have a few ultra running friends and a wife who keep telling me to calm down and I don't need another long run. But I am freaking out people. I guess after preparing this much running everydays longer and longer you just get used to it and to just stop and dramatically cut back well, it feels weird. Well onto other things our team is all set up for the Ragnar relay in feb I am really excited about this but I warn you A van full of firefighters no sleep and running every couple of hours well I wouldnt get to close if I were you.

Ok short on today but hey everyday can't be great unless of course your me

Last long day

My last long day before the Marine Corps Marathon I will still be running a bit but only 3 or 5 miles at a time. No real report needed for that. Today was only ten miles, ha listen to me "only ten miles" I have forgetten where I came from. There was a time not to long ago that ten miles was not possible. I asked people the same questions I am asked now, "why" and the standard jokes about how they will come with me in a car and how they don't even like driving that far, Which inevitable tunrs into I should start getting into shape as they shove popcorn into there holes. I know becuase like I said I was one of them a naysayer. I could not imagine going back to that life style. I will make anyone who reads this a promise try it and I guarantee if you are serious you will change. Enter a race a 5k, 10k, any distance and you will love it. You will change you wil become a runner and you will love it. People will ask you the questions you will just smile and shrug. Knowing they will never understand until they find it.

Well I have decided to start blogging again

I got bored with it I guess and now I have the bug again. I considered making a whole new format then I said what the hell just stick with the one you have and run with it. I will no longer only p0st about running but whatever the hell I feel like. To be honest this is my blog I will right whatever I want. Fuck, shit, damn, see anything goes. to the possible 3 people who may read this if you are offended by pretty much anything go away. I will steal a line from the Slayer song Disciple

"I hate everyone equally You can't tear that out of me No segregation -separation Just me in my world of enemies"

So be warned I may even post pics of boobs.

No on to me. I am of course still running I am in taper mode right now I have a Marathon in a little over 2 weeks and this taper is killing me I keep thinking I started to early, I didnt run far or long enough, I am still running but of course not near as long. 7 a few days ago 5 the other day and 4 yesterday, I may run 10 on Sat. I am also in a constant fight with shin plints but icing and Ibuprofin (will now be considered Vitimain I) cover it nicely along with stretching, and the foot alphabet. After that nothing a few beers can't take care of.

Ok I am excited to blog again I hope to have fun with it and keep doing it. So if you are there ask me anything I will answer any question. But until then a little about me.

I am 38, male and married. I am a father, firefighter and runner.

My wife is still hot. I love the Miami Dolphins so much I have broken things

when they have lost (last year was not pretty in my house every sunday)

I get goose pimples when they win. The thought of them in the Super bowl Is

so over whelming I don't think I could watch.

I Believe John Mcain will run the country better than Obama. It is not a Party thing just how I feel. If I have to pick I would say the only reasonI am Republican is I am against Abortion. My general attitude is whatever and nothing absolutely nothing is worth is worth stresing about. Calm down. I can slove pretty much any problem I have on a good long run.

I have no best friend but several really great friends.

Ok that is it for now.

As most of you know I am running the Marine Corps Marathon this year. It will be my first Marathon I have ran several Half Marathons but the thought of a full 26.2 miles just seemed out of reach. Even more important I have been given the Honor of running as a member of the IAFF Burn Foundation Marathon Team I have been given the opportunity to help those have have suffered burn injuries. You have also been given the opportunity please help me By donating Here You help me achieve my goal. Please give everylittle bit helps.

The list just gets longer

Now I am going to do this. Add that to a nearly endless list of stuff. Include a teenage son getting ready to drive a teenage duaghter (enuff said) and a 12 year old son who can't wait to be my next teenage son, so he feels the need to begin the teenage son ass process now. Oh well we only have one chance in the crazy life might as well do as much as we can. beside in six weeks I am here for 4 days then here for week. The miles keep going by

I am about to up my mileage, I have not decided how much 1/2 mile per day or a mile. The last run was good felt good kept pace up hills. I am still unhappy with my splits. They are still roughly the same no matter the distance any clue on what to do. I just get into a rythm and it stays the same. The good part is I keep the same pace up hills, well pretty much. So that is it

What I do

Here is the basic plan, My basic diet. I got it from Runnersworld and it has worked for me very well. Coming in to it to be honest I wasn't happy with the "gut area" and this has worked wonders. I lost no energy on runs and on long days I have GU so energy is good. This is the basics.

Step 1:
Determine Your Daily Calorie Goal

To estimate your daily calorie needs for maintaining your current weight, take your present weight and multiply by 13. That number covers your metabolic needs for the day, factoring in a bit of light activity. So if you weigh 180 pounds, you need about 2,340 calories per day. To lose a pound a week, you must then create a calorie deficit of 500 calories a day (3,500 calories equals one pound). How many calories you can cut from your diet depends a lot on how much you're eating right now. There's a big difference between cutting 500 calories if you're eating 1,500 a day than if you're eating 3,000. But remember: Weight loss is a lot easier when you factor in your running mileage (1 mile = 100 calories). So your calorie deficit can--and should--be created by eliminating some calories from your daily diet and increasing the number you burn per day through running.

Step 2:
Distributing Your Calories

After you've determined the total number of calories you should be consuming per day to meet your weight-loss goals, divide those calories so that 50 percent of them come from carbohydrates, 25 percent come from protein, and 25 percent come from fat. So, for example, if you've determined that your daily calorie goal is 1,800 calories, then 900 of those calories should come from carbohydrates, 450 from protein, and 450 from fat. Remember: You're not striving to have every food you eat meet this ratio. You're simply aiming to get your total daily calorie intake to fall within these guidelines.

Step 3:
Selecting Carbohydrates

Lots of runners will look at the 50-percent carbohydrate guideline and think they'll go into macaroni withdrawal. They'll argue it's not enough--that they need 60 percent or more. After all, carbohydrates are the body's preferred energy source. While it's true that elite runners need a very high percentage of calories from carbohydrates, recreational runners simply don't need as many carbs. Taking in 50 percent of your daily calories from carbohydrate sources will provide you with all the energy you need.Because high-carb foods sustain you during your workouts, they are best eaten just before and just after your runs. When choosing which carbs to eat, opt for those that are fiber- rich and have a high water content to keep you feeling full.

Fruits (about 60 calories per serving)
Apple, orange, pear, nectarine: 1 small (tennis ball size)
Banana: 1 small (5 inch)
Peach, plum: 1 medium (fist size)
Grapefruit: 1/2 whole fruit
Canteloupe: 1 cupBerries:
1 cupFresh pineapple: 3/4 cup
Canned fruit (in its own juice):
1/2 cup Low-Starch Vegetables (about 25 calories per serving)Carrots, celery, cabbage, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, leeks, onions, green beans:
1 cup raw or 1/2 cup cooked Green pepper: 1 whole Asparagus: 7 spears cooked or 14 spears rawLettuce/raw greens:
1 cup 100-percent vegetable juice:
1/3 cupCarbs to Choose with Caution (watch those portions!)
High-Starch Vegetables (about 80 calories per serving)
Beans (lima, navy, pinto): 1/3 cupCorn:
1/2 cupPeas/lentils:
1/2 cupBaked white or sweet potato with skin:
1 small (tennis ball size)Pasta/Rice (about 80 calories per serving)
Couscous (cooked):
1/3 cupBrown or white rice (cooked):
1/3 cupNoodles/pasta (cooked):
1/2 cup Bulgur (cooked):
1/2 cupBreads/Cereal/Crackers (about 80 calories per serving)

3 cupsSaltine crackers:
6 Rice cakes (all varieties, large):
2High-fiber cereals:
3/4 cupOatmeal:
2/3 cup cooked or 1 instant packet

Step 4 Selecting Protein

While protein's primary role is maintaining muscle integrity, it also satisfies hunger. Protein provides a greater feeling of fullness, ounce for ounce, than an equivalent amount of carbohydrate. The effect: You're content with fewer calories. That's why 25 percent of your calories should come from protein. When you choose proteins, lean is always best. Fat adds flavor to protein--but also calories. So be sure to limit the number of calories in the protein sources you choose. A good rule of thumb: The fattier the protein, the smaller the serving. Protein PicksVery lean (about 35 calories per serving)
Chicken or turkey breast (skinless):

1 ounceFish fillet (all whitefish):

1 ounce Canned, water-packed tuna:

1 ounceShellfish: 1 ounceEgg whites:

2 largeEgg substitute: 1/4 cupLean (about 55 calories per serving)

Chicken or turkey (skinless dark meat):

1 ounceLean beef (flank steak, top round, ground sirloin):

1 ounceVeal or lamb (roast or lean chop):

1 ouncePork (tenderloin):

1 ounceCanadian bacon: 1 ounceLow-fat hot dogs:

1 Low-fat luncheon meats:

1 ounceDairy Products (about 90 calories per serving)Fat-free or 1-percent-fat cottage cheese (calcium fortified):

1 cupLow-fat, sugar-free yogurt:

3/4 cupFat-free, sugar-free yogurt:

1 cupLow-fat cheese (all types):

Step 5

Selecting Fats

Most dieters immediately start cutting fat. But instead of just cutting out junk-food sources of fat, they also cut fatty foods that are healthy, including nuts and nut butters, and olives and olive oil. Foods with a little fat help slow the rate of digestion and provide a sense of fullness. Try to get 25 percent of your daily calories from good fats by selecting heart-healthy vegetable, nut, and fish sources.

Fats of Choice

Full-Calorie sources (about 50 calories per serving)

All oils: 1 teaspoon Avacado (medium):

1/8 Almonds, cashews, filberts:

6 Peanuts:

10Pistachios:

15Olives (green or black):

8 medium Peanut butter (creamy or chunky):

1 teaspoonReduced-Calorie sources (about 25 calories per serving)Light tub margarine:

1 teaspoonLight mayonnaise/salad dressing:

1 teaspoonLight cream cheese:

1 teaspoonFat-free salad dressing:

1 tablespoon

Step 6

Establish an Eating/Running Pattern

The wild card in the 50-25-25 eating plan is how you distribute your calories throughout the day. That depends on your running schedule. Because you want to eat the bulk of your carbohydrate calories around the times when you will be active, you need to know ahead of time when you're going to exercise each day. Then select mostly carbohydrate-rich foods to fuel up beforehand or afterward. By eating most of your carbohydrate calories around your runs, you'll then eat most of your protein and fat calories the rest of the day when you're more sedentary.Remember one other guideline when establishing your daily eating pattern: Don't go too many hours without eating or your brain will signal starvation mode and stimulate your appetite. So go ahead and have a morning, afternoon, and evening meal, along with snacks. Just make sure that when you tally up all your eating, you're still within your daily calorie range.

This is the basics but it is not etched in stone I make changes all the time and trying to maintain those exact ratios is not easy. But do your best and you will be happy. I might start enlighting you with recipes I use maybe?

On the road

5 miles felt great good rythm, I did have a naggin pain in my left leg but it did not last long. No hills, well not many on purpose pretty much all my routes have at least 1 fairly decent hill. No avoiding it it is just were I live. My time was not great especially my splits they were prett much exactly the same. I need to work on that. next week the hills will get pretty intense at least once a week. I will be doing all my speed and interval work on only hills. I have also signed up for the Police and Fire games stair race so I need to get ready for that. I have a full year so it should be ok.

Running Blog

Basic run, a bit sloppy for the first mile but got much better. I was able to get in some good hillwork. 1 stop at the top of a tall one and another to get the rocks out of my shoes. Finished strong I wanted to keep going but it is important that I stick to this training cycle and to the perscribed miles.

Sometimes your good, Sometimes your real good!

Nailed it people. I passed my best time by nearly 15 minutes. My smile was completly genuine as I crossed the fnish line and looked at my watch. I'm happy. The race itself was awesome. The course was flat every couple of miles there was a band senic route. The only problem is when you get water people get to the side drinkers on either side so those of us who don't want any can run in the middle. Learn the necessary protical please. The weather was a bit warmer than we expected low 70's at the finish. So the sweatshirt did not last long.

Oh I almost forgot I met Frank Shorter.

Ok all I am happy. I will be taking a few days off to completly recover then I will begin posting again at my usual unpredictable way.
